Rabat to Fez and More of Morocco

Celebrating Tom’s birthday in Rabat, Morocco with our new OAT friends

The ancient walls of Rabat surrounding the Medina.  The Medina is the old historic part of town with high stone walls.
We were escorted back to our Riad after dinner
We wandered around the old city of Rabat
Largest mosque in Morocco the Hassan Tower which was never completed is always guarded.  It was commissioned near the end of the 12th century.
Part of the mosque that was never completed.  Hassan Tower
Caves of Hercules where Berber people cut stone wheels from the walls to make millstones

In Hercules Cave millstones were carved out of the walls

We drove from Rabat to Fez, stopping in the El Khemisset Market.  This market has been taking place for hundreds of years.
So many different types of olives
Chicken for dinner?
Seasonings at the market
Such sights, sounds, and smells in market day
Peppers at the outdoor market

The market is crowded and the aisles tight!

We love visiting these towns on market day

I haven’t had enough olives yet

This is how trash is removed from the market
This Berber woman travels a long distance to sell her eggs and buttermilk.  She allowed us to photograph her and talk about her life with our guide as interpreter
Gibraltar in the background
Our route around Morocco for the second part of our trip
Outer walls of Tangier
Ancient walls of El Yoissoufia
Stork guarding it’s baby
So many different types of people going about their daily business
Lighthouse where the Atlantic Ocean met the Mediterranean Sea
